A brief description of the ideal candidate

The candidate will have significant teaching experience of Music at higher Primary and Middle School levels, with a background also in harmonic and contemporary music, and demonstrated experience to connect with external tutoring and schools. The role would also involve coordinating the school music activities and related teaching assistants, expanding the school music activities (choirs, bands, ensembles, …), possibly coordinating the Music components of MYP and IGCSE (in

 

Years 10 to 11). Important objectives include to participate and organize performance and events, to establish exams and examination centers (in this last case, previous examination results will be asked for), to connect the school with international networks related to teaching, learning and experiencing music. Active experience in CAS (Creativity, Activity and Services) for students would be an advantage, since contributions to ECAs and are CAS required, additional training and support possible.

Information about the school

The International School (200+ students last year, now 250+) is a community driven, not for profit international school located in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province in supporting the IB education philosophy. The school is successfully growing, with the related challenges for organization, processes, authorizations and partnerships. This year the first cohort of Cambridge programs for Year 10-11 and the first cohort of Diploma Programme students in Year 12 (first class graduating in 2017) was launched. The school is now candidate for MYP and PYP authorizations, and is planning further partnerships, memberships and activities. Hanova has already 250+ students from >20 nationalities and is starting construction of a state-of-the-art campus capable to accommodate 1000+ students.
